There have been some questions about how Jubilee years are calculated and what we can expect from them.
If you do a Google search you will find many well-known people weighing in on the subject of the Jubilee year. It was once said that in Jewish culture if you have 2 Jews you will find 3 opinions!
We know that the 7th day is a Sabbath rest day; the 7th year is the Shmita year in the land of Israel and is a year of the land resting (see Lev. 25.3-4); and the 7th Shmita year is the 49th year, with the next year (the 50th year) being a Jubilee (see Lev. 25.8-10).
Here is a quick calculation of more current Shmita/Jubilee years:
• 1916-17 (5677) the 7th Shmita (49th year) followed by the 1917-18 Jubilee year when General Allenby captured Jerusalem from the Ottoman Empire in December 1917.
• 1965-66 (5726) the 7th Shmita (49th year) followed by the years 1966-67 Jubilee year when Israel recaptures Jerusalem in the June 1967, Six-Day War.
• 2014-15 (5775) the 7th Shmita (49th year) followed by the years 2015-16 Jubilee year.
As there is currently not a physical temple, there are divisions amongst rabbis and scholars regarding if Jubilee years are to be commemorated or observed. There is also division, because many of the Jewish faith believe that a Jubilee can only happen when all of the 12 tribes have representation in the state of Israel—and not only that, but in their respective areas according to Biblical land allotment.
Regardless, as Believers we know that Israel just concluded a Shmita year 2014/15 (5775), so the following year (5776) is a Jubilee year. And, as Believers, we believe that Yeshua is our Jubilee every year and in every season when walking in salvation. We also know that Yeshua said that we are in fact the temple of the Holy Spirit (see 1 Cor. 6.19).
In Biblical times, at the start of Jubilee, ram's horns were blown on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) to announce the beginning of restoration. This is important because during the days of Joshua, the land of Canaan was dispersed among the families and tribes, and the land permanently belonged to that tribe or family.
The land was a permanent inheritance that could be leased or temporarily sold, but ultimately the land reverted to its original owner, and those who were sold into slavery to repay debts were released during the Jubilee year.
In essence, the slate was wiped clean and everyone had a fresh start.
As Believers, what can we expect in 5776/2016? I believe that we have to move forward with a very strong witness in the Holy Spirit. We can believe for a great shift, re-alignment, and re-networking of the Body of Messiah. We can also believe for a wealth transfer, increase in authority, and an increase in God's glory.
Job 22:28 says:
"You will also declare a thing,
And it will be established for you;
So light will shine on your ways."
It is because of this, that as a ministry we have been making declarations and decrees over our Jubilee year that can be found HERE. We are making decrees over our spirits, souls, minds, and the manifestation of restoration as we align ourselves with God's calendar.
As for me and my house we are not focused on the technicalities, because I have a strong witness in my spirit and in my Temple that it is a spiritual Jubilee—the Jubilee of His abundance—and the joy of the Lord is our strength!
